Cayla Elrod is the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at EverBank. In her current role, she leads the bank’s human capital strategy, driving initiatives that support organizational growth, associate engagement, and cultural transformation. Her leadership has been instrumental in navigating complex transitions, including the TIAA acquisition of EverBank and its subsequent divestiture.
Before joining EverBank, Ms. Elrod served at Mayo Clinic, where she focused on aligning HR strategy with business objectives. She led efforts in workforce planning, change management, performance development, talent acquisition, and total rewards—ensuring that human capital goals supported both immediate and long-term organizational success. Her career in human resources spans a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, consistently centered on strategic execution and cultural impact.
Ms. Elrod holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in human resources and labor relations from Penn State University. She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and holds the SHRM-CP credential.
She actively contributes to the industry through her involvement with the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA) Talent Management Committee, the Mid-size Bank Coalition of America (MBCA) Human Resources Committee, and as a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the North Florida Compensation and Benefits Association. She also serves on the Board of UNF MedNexus.
A Florida native, Ms. Elrod is passionate about advancing financial literacy and improving healthcare education and access in Jacksonville and surrounding communities. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Bobby, and their four children.
